WORLD HEAVIEST AIRCRAFT

          Antonov 225 or "Mirya" (Dream) is world heaviest aircraft ever build. Mirya takes her first flight in 21 December 1988. Now days Mirya is still operational in Antonov airline as cargo transporter commercially while being a pride of the Antonov airline.

                                                  

          Although now days Mirya is serving as cargo transporter, back then in the 1980's Mirya was design as Space Shuttle transporter. Mirya actually served as Space Shuttle transporter during the Burma space program, which the Russian space shuttle that initiated to match up with the american space shuttle program. the Russian not only built the space shuttle of their version but they also want  to build a shuttle carrier that bigger then the american one which is Boieng 747 "Shuttle Carrier"(SCA), they come up with the An-255 design which is longer and heavier then the american one. Not only that, unlike the 747 SCA the mirya also design to transport the space shuttle parts. with the Mirya 6 ZMKB progress D-18 turbofans engine that produce 229,5 kN each, wchich allow Mirya  take of with weight of 640.000 kg

Although Mirya was the state of the art aircraft at that time but now day Mirya was already out dated from it's electronic view. Mirya was still using the analog instrument making the aircraft old. Mirya is need to modernize and re-outfit with latest technology but there is no talk to do this. So on record this aircraft was very good but with modern comparison is a bad aircraft
